13. Third times a Charm
Well our love story began 19 years and 2 1/2 months ago. I went to Pocatello to hang with my brother but stopped first at a dance place called Thunder Rose. I watched this guy walk in and wasn't sure if I was brave enough to go in. So I cruised Pocatello unable to find my brother so I went back to the Thunder Rose and went in. Found a spot by the wall and sat down and watched everyone dancing. This cowboy came and asked me to dance told him no, he went away for a bit. Came back a second time and asked again, he didn't want to see a pretty girl sitting by herself not dancing. Told him no again. Before long he came back a third time and I just didn't have the heart to tell him no again so I danced with him.We got to talking and did more talking than dancing. After the placed closed we continued talking out in the parking lot. We dumped on each other how we were both not wanting any relationship, he just a week from his divorce being finally and I just broke up with a guy. He had 2 little kids that wanted a new mommy and he had custody of them. We parted and exchanged phone numbers. He went back to American Falls and I to Blackfoot. A week later while in Blackfoot finalizing his divorce he called and wanted to see me and introduce me to his kids. Instant love for me, him, and the kids. We phone dated mostly at night when we got off work while we ate on chocolate bark we both had. I went to American Falls for a date where we packed a picnic lunch and went to the hills in a snow drift and 4 of us in a little truck ate lunch and visited. We got engaged after 1 month of meeting and after we seen our phone bills(this was before cell phones and local calling) so long distance calls every night we decided to get married and continue our friendship and love. We married 2 months after meeting, the kids wanted rings as well so we got them little penny copper rings too. They were so excited. The day we married mother nature decided to dump a bunch of snow and close all the roads so it was a small reception where the ones that showed up went home with a pie and some ice cream. We got 4 hours together before grandma called and said to come and get the kids they want to be with their family. We went on striaght ice and blowing snow roads to get them. Some people gave us a year and said it was a rebound. But after 19 years we beat the odds. We added 1 more sweet kid to our bunch of happiness. Love is awesome when you are married to your best friend and lover.
12. High School Sweethearts
I surely wasn’t looking for love, and I know Kyle wasn’t either (who would be at the tender age of 16?). I remember well the first time I noticed Kyle. He was walking down the school hallway wearing jeans, a long sleeve shirt, and an Atlanta Braves baseball cap. I smiled when he approached me and he gave me a look so cold I swear I felt a shiver go down my spine.
Months had passed and I had made new friends, had multiple crushes, but had yet to find my place in the school. One of my new friends wanted to ask a guy to Luau, the girls ask guys spring dance, and suggested I ask his friend. I was up for new things so I agreed. Turns out the guy she wanted to ask was none other than Kyle.
The first time we officially met was at a pep assembly. He played in the pep band and I happened to be sitting nearby. After finishing a song he and his friend jumped up and sat right next to me. I thought it was odd that Kyle sat so close to me, but I didn’t say anything. He seemed very hyper as he introduced himself and his friend with a big grin. Only a few moments had passed and he apologized as they bounded away to go play another song.
Luau came and we all attended as a large group. During the evening, Kyle asked if I wanted to dance. I agreed and he pulled me onto the dance floor. He pulled me close, closer than my date had. The odd thing was that it didn’t alarm me. I felt safe and happy in his arms even though we hardly knew each other.
Five days later, Kyle and I started dating. It surprised me how quickly I fell in love. Just over a month after we started dating, Kyle and I took a walk to a nearby park. As the sun set he held me in his arms and told me he was falling in love with me. Five years later we were married.
It has been nearly 11 years since we first started dating and I find something new to love about him with every passing year. I still wear the promise ring he gave me when we were 17. Who would have thought I would find the perfect husband at the age of 16? I certainly didn’t, but I’m thankful every day that I did.

11. Making the Right Decision
I met him when I got a job in poky he was my boss lol so we weren't able to date until I was no longer working there even tho we still did lol after I quit things got rough and we went thru a lot of hard times and I ended up moving to WA because I was offered a place to stay and help to get my degree in order to better my life but had to move there so we didn't break things off but kinda put them on hold after I was in WA he realized what he had messed up in the past and asked me to please come back to Idaho so we could get married and start out lives together and promised a whole lot of changes so that it wasn't all me so I gave up everything that was offered me because I knew I loved him and true love always prevails we have been incredibly happy ever since and I know it was the right decision
10. You can't Handle Me
This love story started in home room at Pocatello High School. We were friends, locker partners, but that was it. He had his type and I had mine. Who knew that one childish phrase would change everything, "You couldn't handle me anyway!" Yep, those words actually came out of my mouth! This challenge lead to a first date, a first kiss, and a love all little girls dream of. That summer, still far too young to know waht we were in for. We looked eachother in the eyes and pinky promised forever. 15 years later the challenge has never ended. We challenge each other everyday to follow our dreams and stand next to each other in every adventure that life takes us to. Lee is now an amazing tattoo artist and a wonderful husband and father. We have three great kids. We are looking forward to growing old together and are sure we will love almost every minute of it!
9. "THE ONE"
Sometimes you think that you will never find love again, and just when you are about to give up....it finds you, on MySpace of all places! :) I had just stopped dating a guy that I knew wasn't the one and while I had other "suitors" who were kind and sweet I just couldn't ever see myself falling in love with them. This was back in the day that MySpace was brand new and popular {before Facebook} and I had joined a singleparent LDS site. Not looking for love, just for someone else to talk to about my kids mostly. One night I had a message from a guy I had noticed on the site who talked about his little girl and the trials he had and how he had overcome them. I was secretly intrigued with him and shocked to have a message from this man. After talking via the internet for a few weeks we exchanged phone numbers and then after talking on the phone for a few more weeks decided on an actual date! It wasn't love at first sight for either of us, as we were both dating others and not looking for anything too serious, but it was a fun date {even if he did try to kill me while he was driving because he was so nervous}! After our 2nd date he mentioned to me that there was another girl he liked a lot and would be deciding within the week who he would want to pursue more since he didn't think it fair to keep both of us on the line. I instantly starting freaking out {in my head} cause I REALLy liked this guy....but hadn't really been able to admit it to that point. I went home after that date and cried most of the night. He had to go away on business to California and I waited the entire week to hear from him. I was certain he had decided on "the other girl" and not me. I was heartbroken just thinking about losing this totally sweet and perfect guy so soon. He was one in a million! He came home on Friday night and called me as
he drove home from Salt Lake City. He was pretty casual for a while and it was KILLING me not knowing if he had chosen me or not. I admit, I was pretty stand-offish because I just wanted to know but not seem desperate! Finally, he said those words to me I had been dying to hear all week...could he date ONLY me? I think I must have screamed just a little cause I think I caught him off gaurd. I think I caught myself off gaurd cause I honestly wasn't expecting it and was so excited. I was scared to trust and love again as I had been hurt so badly....but I just knew that this guy was "THE ONE". He wanted to take things slow...as in, he REFUSED to kiss me till he knew he loved me. So, we dated. And finally it became a joke
in my family! They teased us all the time about all this dating and NO KISSING! And I was honestly getting ready just to give him a big kiss cause I was DYING to kiss him!!!! One night he came to my house for a date, dinner and a movie. After the movie he put on some music and asked me to dance. This was nothing new as we loved to dance together. Heck, I loved any chance I could get at being close to him....even if it wasn't kissing! So we danced and then at the end of the song he handed me a card. He was FAMOUS for his sweet cards he was always sending me or leaving around the house. So I was surprised that he actually handed me one! I read it and the final words of the card read "I LOVE YOU". I looked up at him and with tears in my eyes ran into his arms and enjoyed THE most amazing and memorable kiss I had ever recieved! It was so worth it to wait till we loved eachother for that "true loves first kiss". He truely was my prince charming! He proposed to me on a beach in California at sunset in March of that same year and then we
were married on June 3. We have been married for almost 6 years now and I feel like I am still living a dream each and every day. He is my best friend. The person who dries my tears and holds me when I am sad, who laughs with me and can make me smile no matter what my mood is. He is THE greatest guy in the entire world and I am so happy to call him mine. Our love story only grows stronger and stronger every single day...and it is a love story that will last for all of eternity!

8. Soul Mate
My love story is not "ideal" by any means..
I met my soul mate when I was in 6th grade but back then he just annoyed me. It wasn't until High School I started to look at him differently. We were both in long term relationships with other people when we started hanging out together. We had a lot of the same friends so we were always around one another. After much chasing on his part I decided to give us a chance and I broke up with my boyfriend that I had dated for 2 1/2 years. The rest is history... We were blessed a little over a year later after "officially" dating with a baby boy that was the biggest surprise of my life. Yes I said surprise! Needless to say we had to grow up real fast being parents at 17 years old. We both finished high school making the honor roll and are still together today 9 1/2 years later. He is the best father and husband I could ask for and I couldn't see my life without him. I know our story is not ideal and people might not understand but choosing us was the best decision of my life...
7. Finding Love through the XBOX
Our perfect love story all started with a single sniper shot! Well I should say a few sniper shots, some grenades and a lot of late night gaming dates! My husband and I met playing Halo 3 on XBOX 360. I had been playing with my best friend when we decided to get into some online games. We logged on and started a game with a few other people we were randomly grouped with by the game including a gamer named Jumms. About half way through I kept hearing Jumms complaining about being killed, and I laughed knowing it was me he was mad at. At the sound of my laugh a couple of the players started to tease me, thinking that I was a 10 year old boy. When I proudly admitting that I was a girl everyone went silent. At the end of the game Jumms messaged me and asked to play as a team. We played a few more games that night and when I said I had to log off he said something that I will always remember. He said he had a really fun time playing and would like to play again the next night. When I said I would, he told me to have a great night and as I was about to log offline, he asked what my real name was. We exchanged names and he told me goodnight again. We played every night for the next week and exchanged phone numbers. We started talking/texting and getting to know each other. Jumms lived in Washington and I lived in Idaho, so I figured it would only be a fun (short) friendship. After receiving a dozen roses from him one night at work I started to hope for more. We talked everyday for two months before finally meeting and four months later he moved to Idaho to be with me! We were married 2 years later in Vegas at the Little White Wedding Chapel and the best part is.... our XBOX 360 controller was our ring pillow!
6. Starting a Friendship and Relationship
When my husband and I met/started dating I was a freshman and he was a senior. I had never seen him before but one day at lunch my friends and i where sitting by a set of doors in the school and one of our other friends walked in and introduced us to his cousin. Him and I caught each other staring a couple of times while we were sitting there talking. From just seeing him i knew right then that i needed to get to know him I knew there was something special about him. Well the next day by the end of school we had ended up dating so we started our friendship and our relationship all at once. A year and a half after we started dating he left for the army which was a tough time but we made it thru. The 3 years and 6 months after starting dating we got married. Now we have two wonderful children. We have been together for 10 years and married for almost 7 years and still in love like were back in the beginning . Everyone told us we were making a mistake and we would never make it and here we are today still going strong.
5. He wore Carhartt and I loved it
We met when I was 15 and he was 18, we met at a party, so not the best place! After that i thought he was the cutest guy i have ever seen, he wore a Carhartt and I loved it, we didn't talk after that night, then a week later I was at my Friends and we were going to Hangout with her friends well it just so happened that he was there. I flirted with him all the way to Pocatello, he wouldn't nudge i asked him for a piece of gum, he totally ignored me! Then I told him he smelled really good, ya that didn't work either! you'd think after him ignoring me & obviously not wanting to talk to me I'd give up right?! Wrong, i finally got his attention that night when i decided to play a game (not mentioning what the game was) after the second round of the game he decided to pay attention to me, and that was all i wanted, so i quit the game. & he kissed me! It was the most exciting moment I really liked him, after that they took us home and no calls, hmmm... So i got his phone number from his friend. After that i called him like 4 times a day, he was annoyed but i wanted to talk to him(even though he never talked) I couldn't see him a lot, which i hate & he probably loved, it took him 8 months to ask me out on a date, i was ecstatic i called every friend i had & all his and told them! & Then finally the day came when he wanted to marry me so instead of telling me we were getting married he said we had to go to the Court House cause his Mom was renewing her vows, it was the best day we got married on Valentines Day, and have been married almost for a year.... We have been together for 5 years, we have 2 beautiful babies and still Love each other like we did 5 years ago.... Just remember don't give up!
4. Finding love on the Track
My love story started in 8th grade my husband and i met in a shape class one of the teachers had been sick making two classes run the mile as one. As i was almost done with my third lap my husband decided to pick on me because i am short yelling "run short girl run" ( he was not much taller than me at the time). We kept talking to each other and he finally asked me to be his girlfriend, i guess you could call it that in 8th grade. He still swears to this day the he fell in love with me on that track i used to tell him it was impossible. We both went to different high schools at first and found new people to date and were in those relationships for about 2 years. I finally broke up with my boyfriend at the time and transferred schools my junior year and we met again first as just friends but quickly rekindled our relationship i got pregnant my senior year of high school and we welcomed a baby girl into our lives just before graduation. i knew from the time that our daughter was born i could not be with out him. He purposed to me on valentines day of 2010 and we were married in august of2011. we got married just before his grandfather passed away we did not have big wedding but i am happy just the way things are! :) i now believe that everything does happen for a reason and i do believe that he really did fall in love with me on that track because he would not have waited so long if he didn't still care! :) we will have a big wedding some day!
3. Carpe Diem
Jeff and I met on a blind date, and have been together since. I appreciated Jeff for not being like the other guys: wanting to move quick, or wanting to kiss me on the 2nd date… I told Jeff what I wanted, and he was actually ok with it. He was ok with what I had to say, valued my opinion, and respected me. He was a gentleman!! HOLY CRAP!!! I found the one!!! I found the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. I never had that feeling before, and I never wanted to let him go.
We were married September 19, 2009. Life was going great! We were newlyweds, a unit, It was perfect!
Then, Jeff was laid off… My bread-winner, my workaholic husband, my “I will sleep when the job is done” guy, laid off??!!… Needless to say, we were both devastated. 3 weeks later, we had an electrical fire in the garage, and we almost lost our house. THANK GOODNESS Jeff was home, and with some help from our neighbor, the house was saved; our home was saved.
The garage was replaced; Jeff found a job 6 months after the garage fire. Life is back on track. I wanted to start school in 2011, but I had to wait to make sure Jeff’s job was going to work out. I’m happy to inform you, that I am going back to school this year; with a little encouragement from Jeff, of course. J
My single co-workers always tell me that I took the last good- guy. I do believe I have a wonderful husband. We laugh with each other, encourage one another, and comfort each other. He is the Cheese to my macaroni, the jelly to my PB & J, the ying to my yang… I’m sure you get the point…
A wise man told us, “Always appreciate the things you have.” I appreciate my husband, the home he has provided, endless love, being my sole-mate, and teaching me not to take life so seriously. He isn’t the mushy type of guy, he isn’t perfect, but he is perfect for me! Thank you
“CARPE DIEM”- seize the day!!!!!!!
2. Love in the Workplace
I met my husband at work! 5 years ago, I started a new job that my mother had recommended me to try and get, I probably never would have but I did. I ended up getting hired, and about 2 months later I had a huge crush on this guy (hubby now) well I asked him out on a date and he said YES!!! We went out, and have been together ever since. I had a month to quit or he would get transferred, he was a manager and I was not.. Lets just say I quit and it was worth it! we were married a year and a half later, we have 2 beautiful girls together, I married my best friend!! Its been 5 years and I'm still totally in love with him.
1. Bowling Alley meeting
I met the love of my life 8 years ago. We were at a bowling alley & he was so shy & quiet. I remember going up to him and asked "are you a Marine" (bc he had the marine haircut that gave it away). He was so cute & bashful. I tried to get him to ask me out but he never did that night. So the next weekend he came to down he hunted me down through mutual friends & I would say it was love at first site. He was such a gentleman & chilvarish. It was only a month later that I moved to Pocatello to be with him. We had a few hurdles to overcome, but they were all external hurdles; our love was always strong. We struggled with battling cervical cancer & infertility. All the while our faith & emotional strength was tested when we had our 2 nephews basically dropped on our doorstep bc their mother was consumed in herself. Fortunately, after several IVF attempts we were blessed with our little girl, Elizabeth. She is now 20 months old & has brought us closer together as a couple. Throughout all the struggles our love for another has only gotten stronger. He is my best friend & since I was a girl I dreamt I would get lucky enough to find him.
